Define protein, please.

Proteins are complex macromolecules made up of amino acids that are essential to the structure and function of cells, tissues, and organs within living organisms. They are involved in many critical biological processes, including enzymes that catalyze chemical reactions, transport and storage of molecules, signal transduction, and structural support. Proteins are synthesized in cells through a process called translation, where the sequence of nucleotides in a gene is used to specify the sequence of amino acids in a protein. The structure of a protein is crucial to its function, and it can be affected by environmental factors such as temperature, pH, and the presence of other molecules.

Is it possible that an organism can exist without DNA?

As far as we know, all known life on Earth depends on DNA as the genetic material. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) carries the genetic information necessary for the development, function, and reproduction of living organisms. However, there are some viruses that use RNA (ribonucleic acid) as their genetic material instead of DNA.

While it is theoretically possible that an organism could exist without DNA, it would be highly unlikely to evolve and survive in Earth-like conditions, as the genetic information encoded in DNA is essential for the organization and functioning of cells. Additionally, DNA provides the blueprint for the synthesis of proteins, which carry out many of the essential functions of life.

Therefore, while it is possible to imagine the existence of hypothetical organisms that utilize a different type of genetic material, it is unlikely that such organisms currently exist or could exist in the same ecological niches as DNA-based life forms.

Where exactly human being first evolved from predecessors?

The first human beings evolved in Africa from earlier hominid species. The exact location of the emergence of the earliest human ancestors is a subject of ongoing research, but the most widely accepted hypothesis is that our earliest human ancestors evolved in East Africa, specifically in the region that is now Kenya and Tanzania, around 2-3 million years ago.

The earliest known species in the human evolutionary lineage is Sahelanthropus tchadensis, which lived around 6-7 million years ago in what is now Chad. However, this species is not considered a direct ancestor of humans. The first hominid species that is recognized as belonging to the human evolutionary lineage is Australopithecus anamensis, which lived in East Africa around 4 million years ago.

Over time, various hominid species evolved and went extinct, including several species of the genus Homo, of which Homo sapiens (modern humans) is the only surviving species. The exact timeline of human evolution is complex and still the subject of ongoing research, but it is generally agreed that our lineage of Homo sapiens emerged in Africa around 300,000 years ago and eventually spread across the globe.

Which process differentiate human being from animal?

It is difficult to identify a single process that differentiates human beings from animals, as there is a great deal of variation within both groups. However, some of the characteristics that are often considered to be unique to humans or to differentiate us from other animals include:

Complex language and communication: While many animals have some form of communication, humans are the only species known to have developed complex language, including written and signed languages, that allow us to convey abstract and nuanced concepts.

Advanced cognition and problem-solving: Humans have larger brains relative to body size than other animals, and are capable of advanced problem-solving, planning, and abstract reasoning.

Culture and technology: Humans have developed complex cultural systems and have created and used tools for thousands of years, allowing us to adapt to a wide range of environments.

Self-awareness and consciousness: While some animals have been shown to display some degree of self-awareness, humans have a highly developed sense of self-awareness and consciousness that allows us to reflect on our own thoughts and emotions.

Moral and ethical systems: Humans have developed complex moral and ethical systems, and are capable of empathy and compassion, which influence our interactions with other humans and with animals.

It is worth noting, however, that many of these characteristics are not unique to humans and can be observed to varying degrees in other animals. Furthermore, the line between humans and animals is not always clear-cut, as humans are a part of the animal kingdom and share many biological and evolutionary similarities with other animals.

Olduvai Gorge, also known as Oldupai Gorge, is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, particularly for the study of human evolution. The gorge is located in the eastern Serengeti Plains in Tanzania and has yielded important discoveries related to the evolution of early humans.

Some of the most important discoveries made at Olduvai Gorge include:

Fossils of early human species: Olduvai Gorge has yielded numerous fossils of early human species, including Homo habilis, Paranthropus boisei, and Homo erectus. These fossils have provided important insights into the physical and behavioral characteristics of our early ancestors.

Stone tools: Olduvai Gorge is also known for its numerous stone tools, which were made by early humans using a technique known as Oldowan. These tools are among the earliest evidence of human technology and have shed light on the evolution of human intelligence and problem-solving abilities.

Environmental changes: The layers of sediment in Olduvai Gorge provide a detailed record of environmental changes in the region over millions of years. These changes have been linked to the evolution of early humans and the development of new physical and behavioral adaptations.

Overall, Olduvai Gorge is significant because it has provided a wealth of information about the evolution of early humans, including their physical characteristics, technological innovations, and adaptations to changing environments. The discoveries made at Olduvai Gorge have helped scientists to piece together the story of human evolution and our place in the natural world.

Sweet sorghum is best alternative SUGARCANE because:

1. Sweet sorghum consume only one eighth (1/8th) of water as that of Sugarcane

2. It would not affect FOOD SECURITY as the grains can be use "MULTI-VARIANTLY

Importance of Water in Local Agriculture

16% of world population lives in India. But they have only 4% fresh global water resource.

So what??

How will we do our agriculture??
1. Increase the irrigation use efficiency to the level of Isreal.
2. Decrease the area under paddy and sugarcane or Alternatively develop best water use technology for these two crops.
3. Increase the infrastructure development for irrigation channel.

(In this day tamil daily Dinamalar (20/06/2007) there is report of breakage of irrigation channel of Parambikular Aliyar Project (PAP). It warrants immediate attention. And no body is interested in rectifying the defect. Check www.dinamalar.com

Today on the Caste in Tamil Nadu Especialy in Tirunelveli

In Dinamani Tamil Daily paper (19/06/2007) very interesting piece of information is highlighted.

On 18th June 2007, Mr. M. Karunanithi Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu participated a meeting arranged by Mr. Thol. Thiruma a cheif of Caste based party. There were about 20,000 participants almost all of them are "Dalits". And this meeting is held in Tirunelveli.

The point we need to note is "Tirunelveli" is known for caste based conflicts and consequent "death" by violent means. "Miraculously" no incidence of violence is reported in this meeting and everything went as per "book". GREAT PERFORMANCE.

Education in Tamil Nadu 2006

Now on the Education for the lowest class of the people in Tamil Nadu.

A Tamil Daily reported on 13th June 2006, the following:

The pass percentage in the 10th Standard (equivalent to Matric of Indian Central Govt. Schools) results of the Scheduled Caste school increased from 70 to 77 per cent. And for the 12th Std. it went up to 65 from 51 per cent.

A phenominal performance considering "high value" private schools that admit people of all caste and with considerable "educational" background.
